ROQUEFORT-LES-PINS – FRANCE

In the heart of the village of Roquefort-les-Pins, this project, as requested by the client, consists of creating a tile roof to connect the media library and former town hall, now the “Pavillon bleu” movie theater, to a new covered building! Difficult exercise because if these two buildings share today the same cultural vocation, they are from very different architectural workmanship and they are implanted neither in a parallel fashion nor at the same level!

The agency has proposed the creation, at ground level, of a connecting T-shaped volume covered by a terrace roof so that the future tile roof of the new 300-seat movie theater does not clash with the roofs of the existing library and cinema. This volume will house the “Forum des Images” and link the three buildings. It will also serve as the main entrance to the future cultural complex, home of the media library and the two movie theaters. By doubling the space’s surface and making it accessible from all sides, so that it can even be walked through naturally to get from one point to another in the village, the agency has made it an asset of its project.

A traditional choice of materials and colours (two rows of genoises and tile roof for the future movie theater, whitewashed walls, gray aluminum woodwork like that of the current media library) will integrate the project into the site.
